Починаючи з 2014 р, з початку російської агресії росії проти України, Е.Рама заявляє про підтримку територіальної цілісності та суверенітету України та засуджує агресію росії.
Деескалація ситуації на Сході України належала до пріоритетних завдань албанського головування в ОБСЄ у 2020 році, що було підтверджено під час візиту Е. Рами у якості діючого голови ОБСЄ в Україну 19-21 січня 2020 року.
Після початку широкомасштабного вторгнення рф в Україну 24 лютого 2022 р. Е.Рама заявив: «Те, що сьогодні відбувається в Україні – це те, що ніколи не мало повторитися після Другої Світової війни. Військова агресія проти демократичної країни, щоб силою зброї нав’язати інше бачення світу. Позиція Албанії сьогодні, як і 8 років тому залишається незмінною».
Албанія, як непостійний член Ради безпеки ООН (2022-2023 рр.), у співпраці з США, опікується українським питанням та підтримує ініціативи української сторони в ООН. Зокрема, 7 квітня 2022 року Албанія стала співавтором рішення про припинення членства рф в Раді ООН з прав людини.
Уряд Республіки Албанія на чолі з Е.Рамою одним з перших ухвалив рішення про надання Україні військово-технічної допомоги (17 грудня 2021 р.).
7 березня 2022 року з ініціативи фракції Соціалістичної партії, лідером якої є Е.Рама, Парламент Албанії ухвалив резолюцію «Про підтримку суверенітету і територіальної цілісності України та захист принципів міжнародного права і європейської безпеки».
Прем’єр-міністр Албанії Е.Рама підтримав надання Україні статусу країни-кандидата на членство в ЄС, а також лобіює перспективу членства України в НАТО.
Since 2014, since the beginning of russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Edi Rama has declared his support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and condemned russia’s aggression.
De-escalation of the situation in the East of Ukraine was one of the priority tasks of the Albanian chairmanship of the OSCE in 2020, which was confirmed during the visit of Edi Rama as the acting chairman of the OSCE to Ukraine on January 19-21, 2020.
After the beginning of the russian federation’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Edi Rama stated: “What is happening in Ukraine today is something that should never have happened again after the Second World War. Military aggression against a democratic country in order to impose a different vision of the world by force of arms. Albania’s position today remains the same as it was 8 years ago.”
Albania, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (2022-2023), in cooperation with the USA, takes care of the Ukraine issues and supports the initiatives of the Ukrainian side in the UN. In particular, on April 7, 2022, Albania became a co-author of the decision to terminate russia’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council.
The Government of the Republic of Albania, headed by Edi Rama, was one of the first to make a decision to provide Ukraine with military-technical assistance (December 17, 2021).
On March 7, 2022, at the initiative of the Socialist Party, whose leader is Edi Rama, the Parliament of Albania adopted a resolution “On supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and protecting the principles of international law and European security.”
The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, supported granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country for EU membership, and also lobbies for the prospect of Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
