Вікторія Чмілітє-Нільсен з перших днів свого перебування на посаді Спікерки Сеймаса Литовської Республіки важливе значення надає підтримці України, поглибленню міжпарламентського співробітництва, залученню міжнародної допомоги нашій державі.
Уже 24 лютого 2022 року Сеймас Литви ухвалив резолюцію про рішуче засудження російсько-білоруської агресії проти України. З початку повномасштабної російської агресії В.Чмілітє-Нільсен наголошує, що «Україна сьогодні воює за свою і нашу свободу і цінності, показуючи приклад справжнього лідерства». «… Ми маємо всіляко якомога швидше допомагати Україні перемогти і повернутися до нормального життя. Наші дії повинні бути навіть сильнішими за наші голоси».
Під керівництвом В.Чмілітє-Нільсен Сеймас Литви рішуче виступає на підтримку України та її курсу на європейську та євроатлантичну інтеграцію. Так, 10 березня Сеймас ухвалив резолюцію «Щодо надання Україні статусу країни-кандидата та повноправного членства України в Європейському Союзі».
Значною є роль В.Чмілітє-Нільсен в ухваленні Сеймасом протягом 2022 року 10 резолюцій на підтримку України.
Прийнявши резолюцію від 10 травня 2022 року, Сеймас Литви став першим з іноземних парламентів, який визнав росію державою-спонсором та виконавцем актів тероризму; цією ж резолюцією Сеймас визнав дії рф в Україні геноцидом українського народу.
24 листопада 2022 року за ініціативи Спікерки В.Чміліте-Нільсен в Сеймасі була вшанована пам’ять жертв Голодомору-геноциду в Україні в 1931-32 років.
Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen has been paying great emphasis on supporting Ukraine, deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation and attracting international assistance to Ukraine.
On February 24, 2022, the Seimas of Lithuania adopted a resolution strongly condemning the russian and belarusian aggression against Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale russian aggression, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen underlines that “Ukraine today is fighting for its and our freedom and values, showing an example of true leadership”. “…We must help Ukraine to win and return to normal life as soon as possible. Our actions must be even stronger than our voices”.
Under the leadership of Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the Seimas of Lithuania resolutely stands in support of Ukraine and its course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Thus, on March 10 the Seimas adopted a resolution “On granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country and full membership of Ukraine in the European Union”.
Significant is the role of Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen in the adoption by the Seimas of 10 resolutions in support of Ukraine during 2022.
By adopting a resolution of May 10, 2022, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania became the first foreign parliament to recognize russia as a state sponsor and perpetrator of acts of terrorism; by the same resolution, the Seimas recognized the actions of russia in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
On November 24, 2022, on the initiative of the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the Seimas commemorated the victims of the Holodomor-Genocide in Ukraine in 1931-1932.
